We go down every year and never air down unless we go further south to Oregon Inlet or Ocracoke. The sand down south tends to be much softer and deeper, on Ocraacoke last year i stayed parked in one spot way too long got ready to leave and gassed it like a smart ass in 4wd the JKU Rubi sunk straight down. Pissed me off, I had been pulling people out since we got to OBX and the one time I dont air down and get stuck I couldnt get anyone to pull me out. Its all good though, my wife and I continually help out stranded motorists so no worries.

I dug for over and hour with a shovel 9 (with a defective ticker - heart) and finally got out by myself.

We are heading back down on 9/9 and can't wait.

Stayed for a week in may in avon. Great place. Drove all the beaches and only aired my 35s down to 25 so I could still drive around town and I had no problems and I felt like I floated too . The first day I didn't air down and could tell it wanted to dig but ad long as I drove the way your supposed to in sand I had no problems. ( engine break to stop, don't break if possible ) don't mash the gas to take off and you will be ok.) never got stuck at all which I had all the means to unstuck my self unlike most tourists down there. These guys asked me for help and had no permit, no shovel, no strap, no jack so they got a smile and a good luck as I drove away. So moral of the story is be prepared and as far as airing down you will just need to take everyone's tips and try what works best for u.

That pick of them stuck was at the ramp just south of avon rigt at the entrance because the sand is really deep right there but mine just floated right through it.

I've got a trek top. I sold my Congo cage because it looked a little off with it or topless. Bit the main reason I sold it, my jeep is getting too tall. With 3.5" of lift and 37" tires, its a stretch to put things on top.

Mine won't fit in garage anymore and can't get in most parking garages. Lol. It is a stretch getting toys on the roof but worth it

Agreed. I used to go at 20. It was ok but I dug on a bit. Now I go to 15 and it feels like I'm floating. Also on 35s now but I attribute it to the 15psi. Just takes longer to air up but who cares.
