Default PowerTank vs Instant Air

Posted a question a while ago discussing compressors vs CO2 tanks, well after reading all the replys doing some more research, I am going with the CO2. Now the question in one of the replys someone had mentioned to check out instant air system, cheaper then power tanks system. I know how people feel about PowerTank and I hear ya. Does anyone have any experience with Instant Air System ?????

I have an IAS tank and it's absolutely fantastic. I use it to air my tires and I've also used it to run an impact air. I was able to loosen my pinion nut using CO2 and a harbor freight impact, I was impressed considering it's torqued to around 160 ft/lbs and red locktited. Plus IAS will do custom powder coating if you desire. I do however use a powertank tank shoe, mounting bracket and roll bar clamps. I have pictures in my build thread if your interested.

No experience with powertank, but I love my IAS tank. I can't possibly imagine how the powertank setup is worth the premium. Here's how I mounted mine with my soft top.

Is that the 15lb tank?

Are the regulators adjustable? I assume these are better than smitties and don't freeze up?

Yup 15lb tank....smittybilt makes a regulator? Didn't even know that. I haven't had it freeze up on me when airing up my 35sfrom 15 to 36psi or running air impact to remove wheels. Haven't used it for any extended period other than that though

Good to know!
So what's the difference between this and powertank besides price?
Powertank has gauges and a 250 psi regulator?
Also - are you guys running your air tools at 150psi? I'm diggin the price of these puppies.

Check your local welding supply stores. I was able to purchase the whole setup with a filled tank for $150. Works great, I can air up all four tires while everyone else is on first tire. Only drawback is I seem to be airing up buddies too, need to get them to chip in on refills....haha!
