Default Off road mod guide

Does anyone have a link with all of the terminology used when referring to lifts? I am thinking about getting work done since my neighbor has been parking his mod'd jeep behind mine and I can't stop staring in envy. I am looking between 2.5-3" lift and then will add some new tires as well. Any warnings? Advice?

This is a good start. https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/modified-tech-faq-answers-questions-every-newbie-has-18617/

My advice, do what's applicable for your uses. Don't buy a winch, lights, rock rails and bumpers if you don't need em. I wheel lots of blues and black trails with a 2.5" budget boost, 35's, and cut stock flares and bumpers. Not the baddest looking JK on the trail, but I hang with rigs that have 5x the money in it. Most importantly have fun.

As for "having work done" I highly recommend finding some local jeepers, and host a wrenching party with some pizza and beer. Many will even host if you lack the tools. You'll save hundreds by installing your own lift. Not hard at all.

This is good info here!
As for warnings..... Don't go buying things just because it's what everyone else has.... Get what makes you happy.

I am doing it because I want to. I have been planning for the last three years that once my warranty went I would put some work into it. I was on some trails the other day and feel it is time to upgrade a little.
