I wanted to get people's thoughts on why this could happen to my jeep. Last week I went to Redbird Indiana and I attempted "power line hill". I made it 3/4 of the way and it seemed that I didn't have enough power. That's one issue. The other issue is that when I was rolling back from not making it, my jeep completely lost power/ turned OFF. I had to restart it at bottom of the hill. With no power coming down that steep hill was kind of dangerous. Ideas ??
Also I attempted this three times and the results were all the same.

Without any other information I would venture to guess its a gearing issue. Where you in 4 low?

What level was your fuel tank
the tanks on our jku's are long
anywhere around a half tank on that angle would starve the engine for fuel on that long of a hill
I have actually had mine die in Moab while parked idling on a not really steep decline at about half a tank I had to roll to the bottom of the hill to get it started again

I was in 4 low. But I don't remember how much gas I had, I'm usually good with that. I'm sure I was over half of a tank.
Thank u for your responses

I would bet money it was fuel just by looking at the hill both grade and length also you said it died when you were trying to roll back down the hill which means the motor wasn't under a load when it died but it started back up at the bottom which means it corrected itself ie when the fuel leveled back out and refilled the lines
Our tanks are about 5 feet long and I believe the pick up is in the middle

Is that hill sandy? What was your tire pressure? Reason I ask is because when I take my Rubi to the sand dunes in Silver Lake I have had that issue too. With our transfer case 4 low doesn't allow for enough wheel speed to get up the big dune. To do it in 4hi I have to shut off traction control and get the RPMs up pretty high to be able to get to the top without bogging down and being forced to back down. As far as tire pressure, I run like 10 pounds in the front and 8 pounds in the rear.

The hill was EXTRA muddy, it rained for 36 hrs straight. Tire pressure was 12 psi.
