Yeah id love to have those fox shocks but since that kit is just pucks and shocks do you think id end up needing bump stop extensions?

Never hurts with extensions...to be honest I never put them on. I only run extensively rough mall lots. Well. logging and service roads. Leveling kits do not usually have bump extensions. BB's and suspension kits usually do.

For reference. Check out Project-JK. Read up on the write ups with different lifts and they are very informative.

I've done some pretty good hill climbs without lockers. Faster is not always better but sometime it is. If you have the time to try the same climb a couple of times try varying your speed and angle if possible.

peculiar. I have a 3" and no issues. Second, the best off road method is pick good lines, learn the vehicle, identify and correct. That's it! It takes more skill to maneuver with a stock vehicle than a modified vehicle.

I love how this has gone from a "most capable without a lift" thread to a lift thread...

Make sure quick discos are part of whatever you get. Makes a world of difference!

So would it be reasonable to assume a 2 inch system wouldnt change handling or ride too adversely or would I need lca's and track bars?

A 2" lift has minimal affect on handling due to geometry but it will be more top heavy and body roll will increase. There is no bolt on lift out there that is going to give you a better ride then stock. When people say that they are lying. It is just a matter of geometry. Most people that install lifts also install new bigger wider tires which increses track width and adds to stability. Many will also install new shocks that may help with ride quality.

2" is your limit if you don't want to change LCA. the vehicle is very capable stock. Your first consideration is traction (tires, lockers). Next, technical ability. You don't have to lift the vehicle. In all honesty, I did my lift for extra clearance and looks. Many of the trails I hit, the extra clearance helps in the Colorado Rockies. It really depends on where you plan to wheel. Rock crawling? Clearance is good. Over landing? Might be a piece of mind thing but not necessary. I see Subarus on the same fire roads I see heavily modded jeeps on. The only thing many of the Subarus have done is put on a more aggressive tire.

In the end, your rig. Whatever you do, research, buy and install what works for your intended purpose. Raising it will affect handling. I disagree with Dirtman on he better handling part. My stock suspension on my JKUR was a little sketchy on wash board roads. It handles better now. Higher center of gravity? Yes. But, I think we all know Fox has some of the best shocks out there and by far better than the stockers on any rig. And the spring rate I have, is cushier than the stock springs I pulled. As for geometry, I just made certain those axles were pushed out a bit more. No wandering, no tracking, and very, very little pull to the left.

I would lift again, but I also hit some solid 4x4 only rails. I think a vast majority, wouldn't even attempt many of the trails we have out here.
