Default Esc light just came on! In Ouray any help??

Just ran 2 passes and after a trip downtown my ESC light just came on and stayed on. Read it could be my steering wheel off center which it is slightly. Is it a problem if I continue to wheel for the week with it on? Any help is much appreciated.

I did mine in Moab and my light came on. you should be fine to wheel if this is the problem, but it's easy to center your wheel.

loosen the 2 bolts on the clamp, #7, and jack the front end up. Then turn the clamp and watch the steering wheel turn till centered. (assuming that the tires were pointed straight and the steering wheel was off center when you jacked it up)

Thanks for the guide I will check in the morning. Right after I posted and drove around downtown it went off. Still probably a good idea to inspect.

This may help. Don't be surprised after centering the steering that the light stays on. It takes a while for the computer to reset. Last time for me it took about 40 minutes. This is a very common problem. Consider investing in something like an AEV Procal module which will indicate when you're on center. You need to be fairly close. Just loosen both nuts and the drag link adjuster will turn on axis in either direction. Go either upward or downward depending upon which direction your steering wheel needs to go. GL!

if you didn't break anything, more than likely the ESC light came on for whatever reason such as being off camber driving and will go off after couple engine restarts.

If the wheel is slightly off it will be enough to throw the light on. Check your drag link, trac bar, tie rod. See if anything is bent. A small adjustment at drag link can straighten the wheel and turn light off. Just depends on far off it is.

Shouldn't be a problem to drive with as long as nothing is bent. I drove all the way home from Tennessee to Pa with the light on. Got home and reentered the steering wheel. You can unplug the black wire from the battery and wait a few seconds before reconnecting. This should reset the computer and take the light off as long as the issue is fixed.

If you don't want to do that, just drive it around awhile and light will go off after a couple engine starts as others have said. But...it will only go off if the problem is fixed.

To add on to this, when I went to turn the adjuster, I could not do it by hand. I had to remove the two bolts and put a screw driver through the holes to use as leverage. You might have to do this if you have some rust on the threads of the drag link.

I can make my ESC come on at will in 4Hi (6spd manual) by putting the tires on the right side off the road in the dirt and accelerating hard enough to induce lots of wheelspin from a dead stop.
