Default D,1,or 2

When you're taking your jeep out with an automatic transmission do you put it in drive,1,or 2. I always use drive but would 2 or 1 be better? Mostly mud and trails riding.

I just leave it in Drive and turn off the Overdrive.

I turn off the ESP/traction control if in 4-hi.

I have used 1 and 2 for big mountain decents to save my brakes if the road is so so and im in 2wd. Pretty sure the owners manual mentions something about engine using them this way actually.

It really depends on what you're doing. The goal is to minimize shifts and keep the engine and transmission circulating fluids so that so heat doesn't build up.

If you're crawling in 4-lo, you should lock out in 1st gear.

I use them all depending on the size of the rocks, ledges and climbs/descents. I try to keep the RPMs around 2k
