Any advice for a first trail run?

My advise would be to find a spot that is not too technical and get familiar with all the controls: shifting into 4 lo, disconnecting and connecting the sway bar, locking and unlocking the diffs etc. Once you get comfortable with the way everything works, you'll have alot more fun. Then, hit the trails, and use it for what it was built for. It's capability will shock you. Have fun. HTH.

- Have a look where your air intake is under the bonnet and thus assess the depth of water you can venture into with your Jeep.
- Check where your tow points are front and rear.
- Have a look under your Jeep and spot the vulnerable bits. Without additional skid plates fitted, there are a few!
- Off-roading is not about speed (which Jeep's TV commercials would have you believe), it's about control, keeping you and your passengers out of danger. Go as slow as you can and as fast as you need to, if that makes sense...
- As mentioned before, don't venture out on your own! Joining a group is probably very worthwhile. The best of learning is watching others.
- Don't drive a trail if you're not feeling comfortable about doing it.
- Get out of your JK and have a look before you commit to a particular obstacle.
- There's nothing clever about breaking your Jeep. Any fool can do that! The trick is to keep it in one piece whilst having great fun.

- Enjoy!

X2 It is a great help to have a spotter along to guide you over tough spots that are difficult to see. You should agree on hand signals so you understand them when the spotter can't be heard.
