25 bucks for fire extinguisher

My jeep is worth a 125 dollar extinguisher. I used a H3R clean agent for the inside electrical fire. No mess to clean up. Then I use the tundras for all others. These are great and spray along time. First Alert - Products - AF400 I have 4 total in my rig for easy access. 2 in back, 2 up front.

Ha yea I guess that's true, so even if a car did come smashing through, based on your opinion, do you think it would still explode and do you think the FE explosion itself would cause much injury? I'm just not very familiar on how easy these things will blow up.

Probably something that would end up on mythbusters!!
Maybe if a piece of metal came off the tank it could be dangerous. But ive seen lots of fires and have seen burnt extinguishers, never saw one explode.

I recently pierced a 20lb fire extinguisher with a 30-06 round and it wasn't nearly what you'd expect. There's a little burst of air but a lot of the energy is dissipated into the powder. I have the video here on my phone but it's not uploading. It's really not violent at all, just a spew of powder.

I'd go with a regular class ABC extinguisher from Home Depot. Kidde sells a 2lb model (where 2lb is the weight of the agent, not including the extinguisher body itself) extinguisher that is rated to cover 10sqft for less than $20, and unlike the one from Autozone (which is only rated to cover 5sqft), the Kidde is also RED.
For $40 you can play with the big kids and get a 5lb, but those suckers start to get big for carrying around on a rollbar mount.
You get what you pay for, especially if it saves the day. Those little ones might be able to put out a bright dome light if you throw the canister at it, but they will do relatively little for a real fire. Keep the little one you bought and buy a bigger one too, that way you can have extinguishers in 2 places. Keep the big boy version where you can reach it, and throw the little one in the back as a backup or second line

The extinguisher is a combination of sodium bicorbonate (baking soda basically) and compressed air. It won't explode, just release air and create a mess. It won't put out a vehicle fire but it can atleast stop a small fire from turning into a total loss.
I carry a couple for the same reason I carry a small medical kit, For someone else that may need help!
Don't just throw it in your jeep tho, make sure U know how to use it.... remember "PASS" (pull the pin, aim, squeeze handle and sweep) I've seen 5 highway patrol officers standing around a car fire with extinguishers in hand watching it burn cause they didn't know how to use them. The car also caught fire cause they towed it over their flares. F'n cops lol
