Make sure you get one that has A B and C ratings - some cheap ones are only rated for certain types of fires.
Rating system detailed: What do the A B C ratings mean on Fire Extinguishers?

I got mine off Amazon.com for $20

And Edgar, why didn't you buy one today? You were already there
That's why you carry two extinguishers. One that you use on your own vehicle if you need to and the cheap one on someone elses vehicle.

Uh dumb question, are fires that frequent or are the extinguishers a CYA piece of equipment?

Better to have and not need....

It's mandatory in our Jeep club to have one before you can go wheelin'

The more expensive extinguishers are refillable that's why they cost more aside for what type they are.

Truth. Yet good luck putting out a jeep fire with a abc extinguisher haha

I wouldn't spray abc dry chem anywhere near my jeep, but I suppose it would be better than a total loss.

I can get one or two for free, but I really don't get the point of one, I do not personally know anyone that has had a vehicle fire while wheeling... I know a couple people with older vehicles that have caught on fire just driving. Obviously this is more for the vehicle than say starting a brush fire. Are fires that common on jeeps? Or am I just ignorant to the idea?

I've seen them more than once.

Two should be the goal everyone shoots for.... One accessible by the driver and passenger when strapped inside the rig and one easily accessible on the outside.

You guys can debate what kind/brand/??? is better all day long, but the worst example out there is better than not having one at all.

Guess ill grab one or two and mount them somewhere. I personally would be more wary of starting a grass fire but that's cause of where I live. Better safe than sorry I suppose
