The best engine is a 3.8 V6 Jeep engine. Depending on the mileage you may just want to get yours rebuilt. If it is simply leaking, which indicates to me it is not low mileage, then replace seals and gaskets. But in doing that, you have to dismantle the engine to get some of the seals replaced.

Hey just a heads up. Last month my 07 Sahara jku was leaking very bad ,1 qt a week. I've had her for 12 years and put 203,000 miles on her so my 1st thought was engine replace. I'm ocd about my cars and this one gets synthetic oil every 3000 miles (different weight then what jeep recommends ) and all other Maintenece early so I felt I got my money's worth..especially having lift and 37's / steel bumpers rockers all around the whole time...
Turns out it's just a valve cover gasket , few hundred dollars. I trust this vehicle to drive cross country
If it is your engine, I would just rebuild the one you have unless your ready to pay big . The v8 option seems cheap initially since the motor/trans can be had for as low as 3k and jumps up to 15k but you need a kit to make it work($5-10k)and then labor another 5k. I would say it'll range from 13k -35k . I personally never seen a shop charge 13k, only heard from the forums. Locally cheapest is 20k

H60 sorry I did not fully read the question you asked but here is the response - I bought a stock out of wrecked PU 2016 Silverado 5.3LT direct injected engine and 8L90 8 speed auto with 16,000 miles use. Then I simply went to Motech in Las Vegas and got the rest. They actually take one of your Jeep harnesses and modify it to work with the Chev system. Makes the Jeep functional like a stock one. Then everything is basically plug and play. They also provided all the mechanical adapting parts needed as well down to the gear one has to change in the transfer case to work with the Chev tranny. You might be able to piece the parts together by buying individual components from Motech EG the Mocan interface module that one other Chev engine swap vendor buys. Mine has been running for nearly 2 years now and it is simply a get in, start it and go wheeling vehicle like it was stock.

Sixty4x4- Thank you, my question was actually to anyone. New to the forum. My 3.6 engine just stopped working. Have been attempting to do my research as I make the next move. Rebuild 3.6 (Jasper engine), HEMI option, or LS option. Now attempting to get a 'true cost' of V8 option; and the more you research the cost continues to go up. I will take a look at your recommendation on the Modified JK Tech Page.
