One night, while on duty at the firehouse, a call came in for a structure fire. Our station very rarely rolls the engine, since the full time fire guys sleep in a different station. So when one of the paid-on-call guys tried to start the old engine, the battery was dead. We scrambled for something, but the easiest option was to jump it with my Wrangler. So... I have the distinct honor of having jump started a 1987 Pierce Pumper with my little ol JK.

 

Knock on my head (wood), the only time my battery failed was at the airport parking lot. Of course it was 1130 pm and my wife was not amused at having to get dressed, drive to the airport and jump me. This would be great to solve these types of issues.

Nothing fancy but when I was a kid in the 80's I had a 76 CJ5, loved that little turd brown jeep. Can't tell all the shenanigans I had in that thing, but it really got me hooked. Then life happens, you get married the first time, have a couple of kids, not a lot of extra cash to go around so you just sit on the dream of a jeep. Then you remarry, kids are getting bigger, ad a couple to the two you already have and you get sucked into the crossover world in a tank that can't go anywhere but hauls all 6 of you. Fast forward a few years, one kid graduates moves out to conquer the world and your amazing wife decides it's time to lose the tank and asks you what you would like. You jokingly say, "well when I was a kid I had a jeep, and would love to have one again some day" and the next thing you know she finds you a JKU that can move the remaining family around just fine and finds out in the process she loves jeeps more than she thought she would. Which brings us to where we are today, have a jeep, but also have 3 kids in school and one in college so upgrades come slowly so real things like axle upgrades, lockers, lifts all are put off for now, best you can do are some larger tires, a few lights and thank goodness the jeep came with bumpers and rock sliders. I have a long way to go with this new love of the family and will get there, but without a few windfalls along the way it will just take a while.
