New fuse fixed it. The cheap autozone offroad light wiring kit had a plastic fuse housing that is rated for 5A. The two LoD rear lights are 55w. I figure 55*2/12 would get me the amperage I need so a 10A should do it. New fuse is 30A rated with a 10A fuse in it. Ill prob rewire it this coming weekend with a relay. I only use these lights for brighter bacjup lights when I need them, so they arent used for more than a minute tops. I left them on for close to 15 min to test everything and didnt feel like the switch was hot, or even warm.

I'm looking to wire up my lod rear bumper lights this weekend. I'm using the lights / wiring that came with it, except a daystar switch instead of the included switch.

It looks like i will definitely need to solder some wire to the lights red/power wire as its not long enough to reach the dash/switch.

Do I need anything else? A wiring harness, a relay?

According the the various installs I have seen, the wire is just running insde along the side under the carpet.. do I need to protect it in any way?

Thx in advance!
