Default Wiring for Aftermarket Fogs

Hi Everyone,

I am installing a set of PIAA 5250's and have a couple questions. These are Fog/Driving lights.

For the Switch Power should I splice into the power for the Cigarette Lighter? I haven't pulled it out yet so not sure how many wires are behind it or which one I should use?

For the Marker Lamp Power, the directions say I can splice into the parking lights but not the turn signals. So my question is will I have enough power for these Marker Lights in the PIAA's if I splice into the power of the parking lights that are on the fender? If it is enought power then I assume its the white wire that is power?

Thanks in advance.

The "Cig Circuit" would be fine for switch power. But I recomend to go ahead and pull new conductors for switch power. That way you could call it "providing for future mods". Also, the parking light circuit should be fine for the parking lights in the new fixtures. But you will need battery power for the main lamps.

yeah... and for the piaas i would also run a relay or purchase a swith with a relay. If you tie into the factory fog light switch (on the turn signal handle) you will need a relay regardless.

OK I'm a little confused. The PIAA lights came with a harness that seems to have everything needed so what do you mean by 'pull new conductors for switch power'?

From what I've read the switch power wire just needs to find a source wire that comes on with the ignition.

The PIAA harness has the battery power for the main lamps so I am good with that. But I still am wondering if the white wire on the parking light is the correct one to tap into?

This is the same thing that I am talking about. Considering that you have to find power for the switch anyway. And you have to pull wires from the engine bay to the cab anyway. Instead of using the cig lighter circuit for switch power. Just pull a new 12 volt power from the fuse box.
