I run kc slim light driving lights on the windshield and love them. If you put fog lights on the windshield you would be able to see every imperfection on your hood and that's about it.

I'd like to add my There is no law that says you have to use these fixtures in this way. This is only recommended use.
Starting from top to bottom
Long Range / Pencil Beams
These fixtures should be the highest mounted fixtures in your lighting arrangement. They are intended to illuminated your path far away. Basic concept: If you want to see far, you need to get to high ground.
Flood / Task Lighting
These fixtures should also be mounted high in your lighting arrangement. They are intended to illuminate everything high and low. But for a very short distance around the fixture. Almost the same concept as above. IE: Higher up means better visibility. BUT, be careful of hood glare if you operate these fixtures while driving.
Driving / Euro Beams
These fixtures should be mounted close to the headlight level. They are used to compliment your High Beams. They are intended to illuminate the roadway far and wide enough for high speed driving. They may produce undesirable hood glare if mounted at the windscreen level.
Fog Lights
These fixtures should be mounted at or below bumper level. They are used for driving in adverse weather conditions. They are intended to illumonate the roadway directly in front of the vehicle.
