I don't understand why it's a DOT law. It makes no sense. I mean if there is oncoming traffic you are supposed to dim your lights anyways. The fog lights face lower to cut through the fog with don't normally bother people. Why the h3ll do they care if you have fogs on with high beams.

I tried to get them to turn on the DRL's, which could be done if I were moving to Canada. But, they said they were not able to download the data from corporate because my Jeep's VIN is associated with the US.

so can someone PM me with your euro vin # ???
i really want to get mine done so i can run the fogs and highs together.

My guess is that won't work because someone else's VIN won't match yours. Things are different in this age of vehicles controlled by computers.
There is even a data recorder so they can determine if you were at fault in an accident.

There is a MAXIMUM amount of light allowed while on high beam and on low beam.. while the headlights in the JK suck bigtime, and the driving lights aren't that great either they have to follow the rule of all manufactures. The standards were made so that highs and driving would be on at the same time risking blinding an oncoming driver.. never thought about HID's did they! those should be outlawed! The bad ones are just blinding to oncoming drivers and the real good ones are blinding when they come up behind you.. The light is wrong too,, takes your eyes out of focus.. wrong spectrum of light for night vision..

It's ridiculous. That's why I bought 2 KC lights installed on the windshield.

I just don't get it, why does everyone want there high beams on with the close range fogs, if you want to see further at night buy some driving or pencil beam lights.

Can we rephrase the original question?

Lets say, there are no rules about lights, etc. Whatever mod we do is our reponsibility...

with that said, anyone know how to mod our lights so that, the Fogs can be on, while the Regular headlights are off???

thanks

Not to mention that the increase in projected lumens with brights and fogs on at the same time will cause a proportional degrease gas mileage

Again, just wire them to a toggle. You can patch into wiring behind bumper.
or, you can wire them to your highs, but not lows.

Never knew that they went out with the high beams on.
