Yep, there should be a sensor on the end of it. Not sure if some base model JKs without the computer features might be lacking that, but I think emissions still require it for ambient air temperature (though there is another sensor for the intake air temperature).

I have the lowest of low optioned jeeps and I've got it. The 07 would be the only potential exemptee. It's either missing that or the compass, I don't recall anymore but 07 was a funny year.

Yeah, I have an '07. But mine had the computer features--came with S-options package. Without that package, there is no readout for air temp, gas mileage, etc. That's why I wasn't sure if sensor might be left out on some models. Even at that, a prior owner could have removed it for some reason. Or maybe OP just didn't recognize it.
