Default Upgrading stock radio?

So when I bought my 2010 JK Unlimited X I opted to just get the stock AM/FM radio with CD player. More recently I bought my wife the Renegade with the Uconnect with NAV and Sirius etc and realized I wish I had gotten it on mine lol.

So trying to figure out what I need to do and buy for mine. Can I just buy a MYGIG say on Ebay, get the Sirius tuner and be all set? I am concerned that since I got the basic radio that it won't have the appropriate connections or such for a MYGIG or UConnect etc.

Just to clarify I am doing this because I want NAV and Sirius.

Thanks for the help!

Take a look at my thread! I upgraded from the stock radio, but with satellite in my 2011, and a good portion of it should apply to a 2010. Here is the link: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-w...ite-up-326901/

For you, you will definitely need to add a satellite antenna which in it's stock location should end up on top of the passenger side of the sound bar. If you get a 430 model, you will need to add a uconnect model, but the 730 models have the uconnect built in. As long as you have the uconnect and antenna figured out, the rest should work just find, plug and play. I would say, look into the RER possibly, but mach sure it is a High Speed CAN BUS model.

OEM Auto Parts Co. also has some good information on this too, try looking them up!

Ok so going through you write up. Still need to keep reading through but my understanding is that the preference would be to go with a 730 RHR. I could go with the 730 RER but would require 2 additional antennae, one for the satellite and one for the GPS?

And the 730 is preferred over the 430 if I want the UConnect capabilities?

Actually I think I need to go with the RER model. If I read correctly elsewhere the RHR came out with the 2011 models and will not work in earlier models, ie my 2010.

I added a 2015 Sirius radio to my 2010 base package and all it took was a generic $20 Sirius antenna from eBay. You will need either the combo antenna or a separate antenna for the nav. It depends on the inputs of the unit.

I recently plugged a 430 rhb into the jeep and discovered my antenna is not a dual band but the radio worked fine.

For u, the RER would have been the stock high end setup for your year, so for u, I would look at that!

Only one I have found is about $700

Are there any good options if I chose to go aftermarket with say Pioneer or some other brand? Or would that cost even more money?

If you don't mind using nav integrated from you phone, check out the Pioneer 4200NEX. Sounds 1000x better than any stock radio, has better phone integration, better Bluetooth, better user interface, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and has a removable face plate for security for top off parking.

If your interested in staying stock I have a 430 (7" display) I would be willing to sell.
It came out of my 2015 and is only ~7 months old. Would just have to double check it would work in a 2010

If you want aftermarket the nex 4200 is a very nice option, that's what I just installed.

The op has the low speed can-bus. The 2015 is a high speed can-bus
