I put the mic for my kenwood up in the top left corner of the windshield tucked up against the A pillar and it does "ok" topless and doorless at city speeds, but if it's windy out forget it lol

But I will warn you that any speech enabled radio, whether Uconnect or aftermarket doesn't work great with the top off while driving.
Don't really like the U-Connect, just was wanting the steering wheel buttons to work.

So now you can run the rear speakers off the head unit and the rest off of the 4 channel amp. Since you'd run the front speakers of the amp, you have extra wires that are no longer used. Run the LOC into those unused speakers and bam. It makes for a super simple, cheap yet effective sound system. By no means is it competition grade but who wants to drop $5000 on two front speakers, two amps and a sub, just to put into a Jeep that is going to get used? I don't, thats why I have a bimmer.
I want to try this with the sni-35 that was recommended. I've got a 2013 with the 430N and I believe the "premium sound" and factory sub. Can you recommend a "decent but cheap 4 channel amp" that would work for this? I was researching some on crutchfield, and figured I'd stick with an Alpine brand just because that's what the head unit is, but I'm not stuck on that either.

Step 1) tear everything out.
Step 2) Install new everything.
Step 3) finally be satisfied.

I just finished the third rendition of my audio system and this is the conclusion that I came to. At first I upgraded just the sub and added an amp for it using a LOC and retaining all rest of the stock stuff. This provided plenty of bass but wasn't of the best quality since I was using a LOC to get the signal. It did sound good though but I knew it could be better. Next I tore out the stock head unit and speakers, installed new quality components, coaxial in the sound bar, new head unit, and an amp to run the speakers. This sounded a million times better and the bass was MUCH better since I was getting a signal from the head unit directly. I just got finished upgrading the bass again since the audio nut in me just had to have more. I put in a pair of very nice 10's and I feel that I have reached the finish line of my audio setup in this one. You can rest assured that if you have that discerning ear for quality audio you will not be satisfied until all of it is replaced.
