Default UConnect BT Streaming Distortion

To all the audiophiles out there:

I've paired my Iphone 3G to the 2012 via UConnect and everything seems to be working fine except for terrible distortion and sound quality when attempting to stream audio via BT.

I know it's not the phone since the audio quality in our Toyota via BT is perfect.

I've read there's a recent firmware from Jeep that many people have installed, will this help with my issues?

Shouldn't a brand new Jeep with a build date of 08/02 feature the most recent firmware from factory?

Thanks in advance

Use the USB port and it sounds great streaming over Bluetooth blows.

Having same issue with my iPhone 4. I always used Blue Tooth in my last truck (SYNC) but this Uconnect sucks. Is there a fix for this or do I always have to use a AUX cord?

My Bluetooth audio sounds the same with my iPhone 4 and my 2011 Jeep with a RES deck, which is weird cause I have a set of Motorola S10 HD Bluetooth headphones and its listenable, I cant even listen for more than a minute in my jeep cause all the highs are distorted.

I had the firmware update done but it only works with the USB port the Bluetooth streaming still sucks. I did have to bring in the service bulletin so the dealer could do the update because they just kept telling me that it was not compatible with the iPhone 4.

Is anybody still having issues with the streaming audio sound quality in the 2012 vehicles? If so there is a TSB for it, #08-018-12. I also have the file for anyone wanting to perform it themselves. I am slightly stumped here, mostly because I thought that I had posted the thread with instructions and mediafire link for the update.

ok, Here's the instructions:
Download this file that I have on Mediafire onto a thumb drive that has been formatted to FAT32 and then Place this thumb drive in the USB connector mounted either in the glove box or the center console. Press & release the uconnect phone button and say “set up, software update”. You will start to hear some beeps. This process will take about 20 – 25 minutes. It’s a good size file. During the beeps, the radio screen will in an update mode, when the beeps are done and the screen goes back to the radio then the process should be complete. Just wait for a few seconds after the radio starts to play before removing the thumb drive. Turn the key off, open & close the driver’s door. Wait about 30 seconds then turn the key on. After radio powers up wait about 15 seconds, then press and hold the uconnect phone button for about 15 seconds, the radio will start to say a few options and then something like please attach usb….. And then there will be a software version that comes up on the screen. Should be 63.02.48 V: HS: d2 or d1. When you see this
release
the button, press and release it again. The radio will show the radio screen now. Let me know how it works out for you. Thank you,
You will also need to delete the current pairing of the phone to Uconnect and the Uconnect to the phone, then start the new pairing session.

Here's the link for the file:

Now additional notes about SIRI and other features:

Due to the way SIRI, Visual Voice MAil, annd voice memos handle an incoming call while using any of these features, they will not be supported after the update.
Also:

NOTE: After the HFM has been updated it will receive these enhancements.
· Reduced “Device Reading” wait time after connecting a device to the remote USB
port.
· Call / Dial separation improves upon names being recognized as phone numbers.
· Improved sound quality during Bluetooth streaming.
· Increased iPod and iPhone compatibility.
· SMS messaging support via MAP protocol (not all phones support the MAP
protocol).
· Added “None of These” and “Correction” to the phone book prompt menu for better
handling of similar names.
· Previous button will return the song currently being played to the beginning of the
track.
· AirPlay feature “Dock Connector” no longer needs to be manually selected on Apple
devices. This will resolve the “No Audio” condition when the device is connected to
the remote USB port and dock connector is not selected.

NOTE: USB mode resume will no longer 'resume' after ignition OFF

Thanks for posting this update. It works great. I hated having to select dock connector every time I hooked up my iphone. I noticed one other thing that is fixed. Shuffle doesn't play the same songs over and over anymore. Thanks again.
