Default Uconnect on 2012 wrangler sport not working

I just bought a 2012 wrangler sport with uconnect and it isn't working. The manual says its supposed to beep at you when you go to set things up but I don't get that. The display makes me think it works, but I don't get any sound. The USB port has no sound either. I can see it playing the music on the display but nothing comes through the speakers. Has anyone else had this issue? The dealer told me to bring it in and they will check it out. They tried to tell me it was my 4s phone, but I have tried several different iPods and nothings works. The stereo and Sirius work just fine.

Welcome to the Forum!

I guess my first question would be... what head unit do you have in your Jeep?

I have the 730n with uConnect and Im able to stream music/Pandora to my stereo just fine. Have you had the chance to pair both device together via Bluetooth? Without doing so... you wont be able to stream music wirelessly from device your iPhone 4s. Streaming via USB cable will work but you'll need songs on your iPhone for it to stream.

Hope this helps out. Good luck!

I'd have to get out the paperwork, but I have the head unit that comes with the sport s model with infinity pkg. I want to say its the 130? The thing is, when you hit the button to pair it, it is supposed to beep. It doesn't do anything but say "voice on" on the display. I can say something like "tutorial", and it will turn to a blank screen with nothing coming out of the speakers.

The USB connection doesn't play any sound either. I have tried my iPhone and iPod. They both display music on the head unit with a counter as if they were playing but nothing comes out of the speakers.

I'm thinking there is a wire that got missed somewhere. I guess nobody else has had this issue.

Edit: I just watched a YouTube video on how to set it up. Yeah I'm not getting any audible prompts when I push the phone button. I get nothing from the USB with iPhone, iPod, or just a regular thumb drive. The display looks like it should though.

I just picked up my 2012 with the 130 RES radio on Saturday. During the initial setup at the dealer my phone (iphone 4) would not connect and the U connect was not producing any audio. they took it into the garage and found a connector that was not plugged in all the way from the factory. Your issue sounds very similar to mine.

My dealer at delivery sat in the Jeep with me and paired my Iphone then ran me thru Ucconnect and made certain
all features worked and that I understood how to utilize them. Most likely something simple but would have them
figure it out with you. best of luck it is a nice system you will enjoy it

Yeah sounds like a disconnected wire to me too. I can give it commands and it will perform them, but I don't hear anything from uconnect. I'll update this post when the figure it out and let everyone know what the issue was.

Dealership thinks it is the module. I'll find out Monday or Tuesday if that's what it is or not.
