Default timer never stops...

anyone else have this problem... or is it even a problem?

on other vehicles i have had, you can start and stop the timer on the dash display, but all i can do is reset it and it begins counting immediately and never stops.

surely this is not how it is supposed to be?

I haven't figured out it's use or function yet either for the same reason.

It annoys me to have it running for some reason - I can't figure out how to stop it. (only reset)

What does your owners manual say about this device?

I think you are talking about the engine clock. It shows how long you have been running since the last reset, so you can't stop it and still be running. It's useful for knowing when the mpg display was last reset, etc.

it's the trip timer in the dash cluster when you cycle through the menu button on the steering wheel.

i'm glad to see i'm not the only one who thinks this is a stupid idea. only being able to reset and then the timer starting immediately makes this feature useless. i used this quite a bit on my last vehicle as i travel frequently for work and log my time and mileage for my company.

It is a timer - not linked to other menu options. I can reset the MPG average and have no effect on the timer and I can reset the timer and has no effect on the MPG avg.

I've not busted out the manual (which is on CD) to see what it says.

Weird. It resets to 0 on my 2007 when I reset the mpg reading. I never bother much with it.
