Is there a strength reason for having it feed from the bottom as opposed to the top?

Spooled backwards i bet thats it good call DO NOT REVERSE THE CABLES AT THE BATTERY not a good idea for the winch

The picture appears as the rope is coming off the top, on my SuperWinch the rope is coming off the bottom. Me thinks the rope is spooled on backwards...

You are correct, it was spooled backwards. Unspooled it an fed it from the bottom and all is good! Total rookie here, so thanks for all the help! I should at least get credit for a damn fine picture!

Most DC motors will run in either direction buy changing the plus to the negative it will change the polarity of the motor causing it too run in the opposite direction . That what the hand control does.
