Default SuperTweeters

Okay, I wanted to upgrade sound in my Unlimited from day one. Stock single disk HU, no sub, base speakers. I went with an Infinity basslink, infinity components up front, infinity 3-ways in the sound bar, replaced the HU with a REN.

I never did install the cross over and tweeters, would have required modding of the stock tweeter mounts and all that and while I could do it, it was a hassle. I did port the dash speaker boxes and put some poli-fill in the sound bar but that was about it.

Well, the stockers were the obvious hole in the setup, and eventually one blew.

So I ordered the SuperTweeters and they make a HUGE difference. They really sound great and bring the sound stage back forward. Easy to install (you really want to uninstall the passenger side tweeter houseing or use a wire fish for installing on that side, but the driver side doesn't require that), they fit the original housing without changing anything, and while not cheap the convenience is worth it.

No wiring harness, easy install. I run mine off just the back two speakers. You simply tap off the speaker lines with the provided harness and clips, bring it some power from the battery, run your remote cable and put it where you want (level remote) if you are going to use it (mine is right above the slot where the e-brake handle enters the console, I can reach it with my arm on the arm rest, and I mounted my light switch on top of that). Very easy install.

I screwed mine to the floor behind the driver side passenger seat with the connections and controls facing the seat back, but it comes with vertical and horizontal mounts. I think it will even fit under the rear passenger side seat without the mount, but you would have to jury rig some kind of hold down to keep it from slamming and sliding around.

I have had to replace mine once, but that was my fault... I have an accessory fuse block installed just inside the passenger side of the firewall and so I tapped from there to bring my power back. However the clip on the heavy gauge power line slipped off and must have sparked/arced a bit and eventually shorted the amp.

Which reminds me, I need to replace that cheapo pep boys thing.

i used the existing sub wires as the basslink has it's own line level converter.
