Default Stock Sub wiring help

Ok, I'm trying to hook up my new Belva 2000 watt amp to the head unit or stock amp so it can power my new Rockford fosgate subwoofer. What I'm wondering is this: can the original wiring that hooked to the stock subwoofer be spliced with an LOC, which could be connected to the sub's amp? If so, what are the original wires that were connected to the stock sub? I have Green/white, Grey/white, Green/brown, Grey/brown. I need to know what those four wires are. I assume they're left + , left - , right + , and right - but I don't know which wire is which.

You are correct twice. I kept the stock sub and spliced the factory speaker wires to a LOC, then to my sub amp. The factory sub is a dual coil so it has two channels. I have a wiring diagram in my album but can't get to it from my phone so I'll try to get it to ya later.

Thanks man! The quality on that pic must have been distorted when it went on the forum. Can you email it to me? vicrushing@gmail.com

Default setup

I have a similar setup.

my stock amp wiring feeds into a Rockford 300x1 amp pushing a 8" kicker shallow style sub in the OEM enclosure.

even if you reverse the leads, I'm not sure how much it's going to matter, you'd just be flipping the phase on the subwoofer... which opens a can of worms in debate, but in terms of audiophile setup in a JK... may be moot.

How do you like it? Does it supply enough power to it?

Default well

yea, it works well, minus the fact that on the 6th the amp stopped working... I've mailed it back to RF, so we shall see how that plays out...

amp worked fine for 6 months. then just stopped. the dual voice coil sub is wired such that it shows a 1ohm load on the amp, making the amp 300x1 RMS.

I did notice that the amp gets HOT, like SUPER HOT, like omg it's on fire hot?! I'm not sure if that's what fried it, as it's supposed to have thermal overload... so I wasn't overly worried... I only had the gain at like 5/10.... but who knows...

it's in the rear 'bin' under the floor, maybe I need to add a fan...

I'm surprised your amps are getting so hot. I was worried at first but as cheap as they are, they are easily replaceable. I'm using two of the PBR500 x1 amps running at 1 ohm and have not had the problem with them getting hot. I have mine up inside my dash so maybe they are getting more air circulation.

I do have an extra Rockford Fosgate PBR300x1 I have for sale if anyone needs one. PM me.

Default well

ever since new it would get super hot and cut out when the bass hit if the engine wasn't running... maybe it was a factory defect?

it's being delivered to them today, so let's hope they just ship a new one under warranty... I think it was like $130 new?

I was bored and checked w/a multimeter... sub shows a 1.3 ohm load.

You answered my question.
I was going to ask if you are using an amp and sub that are compatible as far as ohm's go, but I guess so.
Hopefully that amp was just a lemon
