Default Stock AM/FM antenna

I replaced my radio antenna with a stubby from Ebay (I think 14") and I got shit for reception. I knew it would drop some, but I didnt get any AM or FM stations. I put my stock antenna back on last weekend and put a bend in it to follow the lines of the windshield and so it wouldnt hit my windshield lights. I got on the highway the other day and the wind was wipping the antenna everywhere, it was hitting the passenger side window the whole ride.

Im just wondering if anyone has a solution to this. Im thinking of taking off a few inches of the stock antenna but dont want to kill my reception. Any other solutions??

Do not cut your stock antenna,,, it will work worse than the stub.. What I did is remove mine completely and install a glass mount antenna.
If u look on amazon it's a metra brand.. If u wanna meet up n see it I'll show u.. A trail rated badge covers the antenna hole in the fender.

I used my CB antenna and ditched the factory one. Put the badge over the hole as mentioned. Firestick makes the adaptor.

I tried the stubby antenna and thought is caused a hugh drop in reception, however I cut my stock in half, and I have no drop or loss in reception. Just my $.02

Which windshield light bracket do you have? I have the mopar ones which are similar to the rampage ones and have a bracket for the antenna.
