If you had around $500 to upgrade your bone stock stereo, what would you do? I really don't care if I upgrade the head unit as long as it can work with a good amp, sub and after market speakers. Thoughts and suggestions please.

By some of the stuff I've read on here it sounds like the head unit should get replaced too. So just how far can I stretch $500 or so?

Sounds awesome, just some used amps, paint, wiring of course, and then I eventually upgraded all speakers/head unit etc

With stereos, you get what you pay for. You dont want to do this thing twice, so maybe dont do it all at once. Buy yourself an amp and sub. Then move on to tweets and mids, then soundbar, and finally a deck.

There are a million and one ways to do a stereo. I went with a kenwood DDX-419 head unit, JL tweets, Mids and crossovers in the sound bar. The lows are handled by two 10" JL subs, with a 700 JL amp (300x1 100x4) handling the power. This is the first stereo that i've ever had installed professionally(I dont mean Best Buy either), and it was well worth it. Even if I had to pay for it.
