Default So Are Light Bars On The Roof Too 80s?

I am trying to figure out which light combo I want to go with and was thinking about adding the Rugged Ridge light bar for the roof...but a few non-Jeep folks told me that it was a bit "too 80s" and not very practical. I do have to say that more guys seem to have the lights mounted on the front bumper and hood than on the roof these days. Thoughts?

Its actually a good place to mount them because you wont get glare. Just don't forget they are up there when you pull into low garages lol

Looks awesome! I like the look better of the roof rack versus just the light bar.

I don't think they are 80's, but I think that falls in the execution...I've seen a lot of powdercoated black light bars that looked very modern, but I've also seen quite a few chromed out light bars that sit 8 inches above the windshield frame that tend to give it that 80's look you're referring to...

I agree with Phoenix. I also think it's very easy for people who are not familiar with any given subject to make generalizations, they don't have any idea what's on the market these days. Yeah, there are some ugly light bars out there no matter the finish. But there's a sh!t load of variety to choose from.

BigRed, that is a bad-@ss roof rack/light bar set-up.

If light bars are too 80's... As VH1 says, "I Love the 80's!"

Thanks for all the compliments guys!!

The GOBI unhooks at the upper corners of the lightbar and pivots up/back on the rear posts. I can lift the rack up and remove/swap tops without fully removing the whole rack. I can also remove the rack and just leave the windshield lightbar mounted. It's a pretty cool rack. 100% bolt only, no drilling required.

You can see the rear post w/ pivot bushing in the first 2 pics and the 3rd pic is from the GOBI website of it swung open.
