Default So, I decided to get some video going and...

I installed front and rear cameras and a DVD player.

THe video screens are installed over my rear view mirror and has 2 screens in 1 unit. Each one is controllable independently and can switch through 4 video sources. For now I only have 3, front cam, rear cam, and DVD output. The DVD player has its own screen and uses either wireless headphones, or I can listen to it through the factory system via an FM transmitter.

Yes, the rear view mirror is LCD, that is why the rear DVD does not get in the way.

The screens are 5" each, so the total is 10". I can use them as 1 screen if desired, but it gets rather distorted.

Is that LCD rear view legal? I can't imagine it would fly in NY. But it is pretty cool.

Not sure about the cost, I did it all on trade.

Yes it is legal. You do not have to have a rear view mirror if you have side mirrors, kinda like a moving van.

The only time it is not legal is when there is a movie playing on the front screen. But, that is what the video switcher is for.

Any worries about the camera's getting dinged up on a trail?

If not, it would seem pretty helpful on the trail, kind of like a virtual spotter.

It is possible, no doubt. But, the cameras are really not that expensive, it is the displays that cost.

Virtual Spotter: That is why I mounted them, and they are water proof too
