Default Sirius & Xm Sat merger

I am posting this here because I think all of us get the 12 mos free of sirius.

Today the FCC approved the merger of Sirius & XM sat radio They say that once everything is completed we the consumers will be able to receive programming from both services without having to buy new radios, unless you want to pursue a special pay-per-channel a la carte option. Hopefully this is true and there is not some loophole.

The FCC approved the merger because there is still public radio and does not consider it a monopoly. If they jack prices up then I believe that a lot of people will just dump the service, I know I will.

As part of the deal they have to freeze prizes for at least 3 years.

Personnally I don't consider it a monopoly because there are other form of audio entertainment: regular radio, HD radio, MP3 players, CD's, etc...

But, we will have to wait and see what they do after year 3.

Along those same lines, would you say Chrysler has a monopoly on JKs? Sure you can drive another 4x4 but only one company makes the JK.

well I just got my XM radio in my JK, and I was a previous customer so I called in and bought one year at 50% off, so now I have both XM and sirius but im no longer listening to Sirius because I think the music selection is better on XM and plus i like listening to Opie and Anthony. But once they merge I wouldnt mind removing the extra radio in my JK

I was a longtime XM radio customer but their billing department was run by a bunch of monkeys flinging shit. Seriously every 3 months or so they would charge my cc for a full year of service, then i had to fight with them to get it re-deposited. Finally i cancelled my cc and said f'em. Soon as my year is up i'm pulling out the factory radio and slapping in an Alpine, speakers, and sub in my x. Sweet Sweet Best Buy discount

Truth be told, I got it because up here there are a lot of areas without good radio reception.

Then I got a sweet MP3 player for Christmas, and I don't use it so much. I don't think I'll keep my sub after the year's up.

I love my XM, especially channel 12 X-Country, the progressive country station. The music is more like the old southern rock of the 70's, has the flaver of Marshall Tucker, Allman Bros, etc. Any idea how soon I can get on my stock radio?
