Single DIN Head-unit options
Looking for some options. Trying to steer clear of anything made by Sony. Looking for single-din, something to control my i-pod and charge it at the same time. Looking to spend about $300.
Thanks!
Thanks!

If that's your budget I'd decide which is more important to you.
Sound Quality go Clarion
iPod control go Alpine
They'll both control your iPod but the Alpines interface will be more flashy while the Clarion's sound quality will be second to none in that price bracket.

I just put a kenwood in my truck, and while i'm not really liking the screen very much (hard to see in the day), the ipod controls work excellent and work on both my old ipods and iphone flawlessly. I'll eventually upgrade it to a better model with a better screen. It was less than $200, but there are units under $150 with built in ipod controls...and that includes free wiring harness and such from Crutchfield.

Pioneer just introduced a new model at CES that might be worth waiting for.

Thanks for the lead on the Pioneer HU. Was just going to do speakers on stock non-infinity unit in 07 2 door X but now looking at speakers, amp, sub and new HU!

Also, Alpine has a single DIN HU coming out that can use Pandora via the iPhone. Something to consider if you have one and don't want to pay for Sirius/XM radio.

You do not need a $200 module. You need the Pacific Audio Harness (CR2-CHY4) http://www.pac-audio.com/PACProductD...ons_060809.pdf
Here is a pick of my HU. Its a Kenwood KDC MP438U. It's a single DIN HU and it controls my iPhone just fine. It also has High/Low/Sub filters as well as multi-band frequency settings. I really like the unit and it was under $200 at crutchfield. Hope this helps...btw....the install was simple and straight forward. Oh and it will charge the iPod/iPhone while playing. It also automatically pauses playback (on iPhone) when you receive calls and then restarts immediately after you end the call (also sounds message chimes through speakers - assuming you have the iPhone set to sounds and not vibrate).
