Default Simple Uconnect question - calling "mobile" number not "home"

OK, I HAVE to be missing the simpliest of things but I searched and didn't find so...

I say a name to call - and it automaticaly says "call XXXX home" is this correct?

nope its not. I want to call their mobile - should I just be able to say "call XXXX mobile" and it work? Read the instructions which seem, albiet vaguely, to indicate that. The imported phone book from my iphone lists all the numbers corretly under the contact. Even tried copying one to my mygig phone book - worked right and all - but still insists on calling "home" i.e. the first listed number. Did voice training, etc. nothing. using the "cheap" $20 microphone but it works great for everything else.

help please - I'm really not this stupid, honest.

thanks in advance

JL

I haven't tried it in a while, but I seem to remember it asking which # to call.

"Call XXX home?" "no"
"Call XXX Mobile?" yes"

Perhaps try changing call home to call house. It seems to want to know if you're calling a home # or a mobile # or work #.

It asks if you want to call the home number. Just say "no". Then it will ask if you want to call mobile, say "yes", then it will start ringing.

Default got it to work once - once...

OK, it worked once "call xxxx mobile". have not had any luck since. Unfortnetly, it doesn't cycle through the possible options as one would think (2009, updated software). too logical. it asks "call XXX home - say yes or modify" something like that - yes calls home, modify (again not exact word, it escapes me) returns it to asking for a name. If it comes up with multiple options for the name you said, it displays them and asks you to pick a line number. as soon as you say the line number, it defaults to calling that person's home number - UG - I'm tempted to delete my wife's home number as I never call her there anyway and THEN see what it does - seriously, I'm constantly argueing with my mygig!

Again, as I thought, "calll xxx work" etc should be working but I AM having some difficulty with my mic from coastal (the cheep one). it works well at a dead stop but at speed (windows up, fan off, etc) it seems to take forever for the system to process what I said, and it 80% wrong.

I'll keep working on it -

Odd. For me, if I want to call my friend Dave, I'd say:
Dave HOME (very short pause, i tend to say the second word louder for some reason)
or
Dave MOBILE
or
Dave WORK (It might be Dave OFFICE, but I can't remember. I almost always say MOBILE.)

And it always gets the right phone.
Are you sure they are entered in the address book right?

Entered right - tried two ways, from my iphone (I can see the phonebook if I go to my fliles, etc when connected and the contact looks correct). Also tried copying the contact to the onboard directory and that did the same thing. the more I look into it, the more I think my issue may be the mic problem. I've had some issue with people on the other end asking if I have bad reception (I keep cutting in and out). I'm going to check connection in the back - sometimes great, sometimes not.

not to HiJack or anything, but....

1. How did you do the voice training?
2. Only sometimes when I say a name does it respond. Other times it works fine with names but it never will display the name of the person who is calling. I can't figure this thing out.

I have a Motorola phone with Verizon service.

How did you copy a contact from your iphone to the address book. I have not been able to figure this out?

I don't think you are hijacking - I think its our mic's - what brand do you have? Mine is coastal tech - some have good success. I have mine in the same place as others but seems to have issues for me at high speed. Voice training is in the menu's somewhere.

Also, to copy from ipone to contacts - go to main menu, select something like manage files (the same place you go to upload music), then address book. your phone must be paired AND the mygig should have downloaded it. If it has, scroll down to page 2 and open the phone's phone book. the rest is just following icons. If you cannot find your phone's address book, search the forums as some will transfer and other won't.
