I'm waiting for my MyGig AV9003 harness to get here, the amp isn't powering anything at the moment and I didn't feel like taping off all the wires, so I just screwed it in and left it. I'm building an amp rack for it while I wait for the mail

Wonder if I could get a high quality 8" sub in the factory housing?

Yes, you can. Depends on what you consider "high quality" though. a JL 8" should fit (NOT a w7), most kicker's will fit. Just check the mounting depth and if the sub has a vented pole make sure there is an extra 1" of space behind the sub.

Runit3,

I was thinking of using the dynaudio set up, use them in my theater set up and they are great.

While I wish I could get more than one 8" driver, feel it better to keep the Jeep in stock form.

I've only heard good things about Dynaudio, their MW172 would be an amazing drop in replacement but the mounting depth looks iffy & 4ohm 150w nominal makes the infinity stock amp choke.

IMO the stock amp is the weak point in the system, you can get a definite gain in quality from drop-in's but I like my bass -This coming from an owner of a Hifonics powered Kicker S15L7- I'm way past my teenage years of blowing up parking garages car alarms, now I like a quality dual 8" set-up with hearing retention.

The stock sub location & mounting system is great, the power you can run to it is limited by the 16/18ga wire & stock amp output.

That's pretty sweet
How did you mount the MDF to the tailgate? Inner brackets?
