Default Scratchy sub, but not blown please help

So I have an alpine pdx 1.600 amp hooked up to an alpine sws 1222d. I have the gain set halfway (300 watts) to match the sub. I had no problem with it for about two weeks and then once after fixing the speaker wire now it seems to sound like the sub is "clipping" or "scratching" at higher volumes. It is almost as if the signal cuts out causing the sub to scratch. I checked the resistance with a multimeter and its perfect and if I push on the cone there is no scratching. It is in a .85 cubic ft box which it is rated for. any idea what it could be? I checked all connections and the power and rca cables are run on opposite sides of the car.

TL;DR Sub makes scratchy noise, doesn't seem to be blown or clipping.

make sure theres nothing inside the box touching or bouncing around, and did you push the cone all the way ,
at higher volumes / longer throw for the speaker.
P/S Im old so turn it down , gut a haircut ,and lose the lip and nose piercings
