Reverse wire color in cabin for back-up camera trigger.
I just installed an aftermarket Pioneer Double Din Head Unit and I am going to be installing a backup camera this weekend. I don't want to have to run the reverse trigger wire (from the headunit) all the way to the back of the jeep to tap into the wire before the reverse lights so I was curious which wire is for the reverse lights in the wire loom on the passenger side of the jeep in my 2008? I will tap into the reverse wire at the back for the camera power. Thanks.

I just did this on my 2012 last night, the passenger pos wire was white with green tracer. I ran the wire down the wire plunge to the passenger backup light and made the connection there. On the 2012 JK it is easy to get to the wires just two screws.

tweba, will you post up some pics/specs of what head unit your using and which backup camera. I'm wanting to do this soon and have been looking at Pioneer radios and would like to see how it looks installed.
Thanks

Here's what worked for me that I was missing that no forum about this subject seems to mention, it's obvious once you really think about it...but it wasn't "obvious" to me at first. To start I'm dealing with a '13 Sahara JKU with a Kenwood after-market head unit.
1) Run video wire from rear camera to head unit.
2) Either end of the video usually has a power wire for the camera, you only need 1 of these. I used the one at the back of the rig and spliced it into the White/Grey stripe wire in the loom near the tail-light but under the carpet. Keep in mind, this is White/Grey in the loom but right at the actual tail-light (after the plug) it's white/green, at least in the JK.
3) HERE'S WHAT WAS NEVER MENTIONED! Since this was an after-market stereo, there's a wire from either your JK harness or in my case, the Maestro control box that needs to be hooked up to the "Reverse" wire on the head unit. This triggers the stereo that the Jeep is in reverse and switches the screen to the video input.
I certainly hopes this helps someone. I was pointed to this resolution through a FB Jeep group. Happy Jeepin!
ps: I love that my profile says Newbie...I bought this puppy new, so 9 year newbie I guess.

2 questions:
a) did you not use a trigger wire connection cuz i see i need both front and rear red + wires connected? that is what I am reading in your response....but clashes with doc
b) if i use the reverse trigger wire i presume it is off Maestro or should use ilx507 wire?
I am not opened the ILX507 box yet or Maestro which may explain...doing the cam and sub now, run wires, then opening dash up.
thanks!!
