Exactly what EsByrd said! MDF = Medium Density Fiberboard
Make sure it is sealed!! Any water, and it will end up growing like one of those pills that turned into a foam animal that any kid that was cool had 20 years ago!!

So can I just install it in the factory sub enclosure, or would that not be a good idea?

That's where I installed mine. Looks and works great! If I had a shop, I would probably do an underseat box. That's just not in the cards for me though. Here is a great walkthrough for the sub install: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-e...nstall-214817/

with a few simple tools you can make the box i made. it took me about 45min to measure, cut, and piece together. then i coated it in 2 coats of resin then i sprayed it with rattle can rustoleum bedliner. i made the box so thats its to big to slide under the seat. that means you hve to unbolt my seat to steal it lol and i alos put a nutsert so that it has a screw in the side where the passeger seat has a hole in the seat fram rail so that the box doesnt try to slide any

Sounds easy enough! My problem is, I live in a highrise condo. I only have a parking garage and the company isn't really a big fan of working on your vehicles there. I had a restored '69 Camaro SS that I would have to tinker with every now and then to keep it running right, and that caused a stir with some of the older residents. Haters...

For just the soundbar speakers, do it at a walmart parking lot. It takes less than 30 minutes

I swapped out my soundbar speakers in a mall parking deck yesterday since it was pouring down rain. Super easy. Sounds so much better even with stock HU.
