Default Are the REN mygigs worth buying?

Want a hd to store my audio, don't need nav, need sirrus. Any other options besides the REN?

I see pioneer has their new (at least I heard about it today) box out that you can hook your iphone to and stream pandora. Looks like the top of the line box can be had for about 1100.

Seems like the RENs are available for about 500 bucks w/the RER's at about 1k.

Don't really need Nav, but seems like you have to get it to get the other good features on the pioneer boxes.

Are there any other options out there? Thanks!

Some one just posted a thread a few days ago called "cheap my gigs" he got his for $350 from a web store. He posted a link to the site. His my gig dis not have the nav. I'm a big fan of the nav and would want it but it is very expensive. $350 for the non nav seems like a good deal. It the same amount as nice head unit! Search for the thread. I found it on google buy searching my gig RBZ Europe.

Good luck

my whole issue with the built in NAV....

1] you have to buy map updates at at least TWICE what say tomtom or garmin charge for map updates

2] unless you lockpic it you cannot adjust the nav settings while rolling...

3] Nav doesnt support traffic flow route alteration

However if you are looking the on-board music storage, U-connect phone and such id say pick up a REN unit...

PERSONALLY cept for a fancy screen I like having the 6 disc changer unit with U-connect module...

1] you can burn MP3 DVD's.. 4.7 gigs x 6 = 28.2 gigs of Music in the dash
2] iPOD adapter on the 6 disc.. = whatever number of gigs on my iPOD
3] TomTom, iPOd, and such locked in a Tuffy - wont get stolen...
4] the REN's sold for $350 dont have SIRIUS.. I have it on my 6 disc....

Interesting ... there are REN's with out SIRIUS? Did not know that. Sounds like if you need to adj the NAV while moving (which is desirable imo) by the time you buy a lockpic ... you could have bought the loaded pioneer which has more features.

Thumbs up

got a brand new pull out 2010 REN mygig for 175 bucks off ebay. Free sirius for a year. (had to buy a 7 dollar satellite antenna off ebay as well)

freaking LOVE IT. makes the jeep look cooler, fun to play with, I just love it.

thinking of dropping the 500 bucks for the nav radio just to play with it.

did I mention that I love it? I burned a bunch of jeep videos to DVD including some hi def commercials from youtube that just ROCK when I play them on the DVD player to show off to my friends.

this commercial played on the mygig is amazing.

some REN's have Sirius, but from what the guy on ebay stated form the link floating around here.. is that his REN's had 'no satellite features' such as Nav or Sirius..

could be like another post where you just need to get the antenna and you'll have Sirius..

there are mygigs without sirius.

check out the compatibility list, especially if you get one off ebay to make sure you don't buy a lowspeed model which wont work in a wrangler.
