Default Recon LED turn signal crap...fixed!

Okay...so I dropped the $120 or so on a pair of the Recon smoked LED blinkers about a year and a half ago. I'm pretty electronically inclined when it comes to hooking up my own electronics, whatever it may be. Well...between 2 of us, we could not get the blinkers to work right. First off, the directions are complete and utter crap. I watched some videos online for help. The resistor started smoking when they were first installed. Never could get them to work right, so they've been sitting in my closet ever since. Well, I finally had enough and came up with a plan. I pulled my factory turn signal housings out, stuck them in the oven for awhile to loosen the glue, then pried off the orange lens. I did the same with the LED housings. After that, I just used some clear RTV to seal them back up. I could care less about the LED...but I do have a completely blacked out front end now! If you find yourself in the same predicament, just remember to take your time prying them apart. Also, pay attention to the orientation of the lens when you're reapplying the lens. It sits at an angle. $120 is a lot to pay to just have some blacked out lenses...but what else could I do?! I love the new look, and know I won't have to worry about going through some of the horror stories that I've heard about the issues with the LED's.

I used a $5 can of spray tint for my markers, blinkers and taillights... Looks great!

Whatever works! I was all smitten with the idea of LED's. I got over it though!
