Yep, it's a pain to get it adjusted right. If you're using the Viper prox sensor you'll want to give the system a bit of time to "fully" arm before you try to adjust it.
I adjusted mine, locked, walked back to it, and repeated the process until it would sound off when someone was within 6" of the glass. Fast forward 24 hours and the jeep is parked in an empty parking lot while I eat dinner in a restaurant and I can see the jeep (armed). A truck drives by and the jeep goes ballistic. I adjusted it down some but it needs a little more yet.
Adjust the left then fine tune the inner zone with the right. The left one adjusts both and the right increases/ decreases the inner only. If the inner is maxed out and the left is anywhere else then it is "supposed" to go ballistic before the warning goes off.....no bueno.
