Default Recomendations on Lighting

Good morning, I know there is a ton of commentary on here about JK lighting and how poor the original lighting is, I though I could ask from some guidance.

Here is what I am trying to accomplish - I want to upgrade both the headlights and the fog lights and keep the vehicle as stock as possible, while greatly increasing the lighting.

I would like to keep the total spend as low as possible and probably not more than $600, finally I would like the light to be complementary to each other - it I do not want it to look silly.

Also - I would like to install these myself and there are many video guides and it does not look too hard to do. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well, for under $100 you can get the best Sylvania bulbs for your fog lights and head lights.

Much better than stock, but there are better, more expensive options out there. I'm sure others will chime in soon on what they've done and if they believe it was worth it.

think your best bet would be to go for Euro style headlights + adapting harness with H4 bulbs: Philips Vision +, PIAA, Osram, IPF make nice ones.
I believe Northridge sells a kit that does just that.

Your other solution is ordering them from Europe or Australia but you'll have to pay for Taxes and Shipping unless you have a friend in the Military...as we do when we buy stuff state-side.

If your willing to make the upgrade, Led lights are way cheaper in the long run, I run trucklites and couldn't be happier with the quality of the light and coverage, they are 430 at rebel offroad for a pair

Having tried 4 different headlight housings (stock, HID Projectors, Cibies, Hellas). The best ones I've used are Hella H4s. They're ~$90 for the pair. I'm running Cibies now and am not too impressed with them. I'm going to put HIDs into the Cibies, and if I'm still unhappy, I'll go back to the Hella's. Only reason why I switched is I cracked the hell of them (hot glass, cold mud puddles do not mix). I got a good deal on the Cibies so figured I would try those. So far I've been disappointed with them.

Jeme,

Phillips extra power headlight bulbs are a real improvement in the stock housings. I am adding a wiring harness to provide full power to them from the battery, should make a noticeable improvement as well.

A couple of places sell a better bulb for the fog light as well. That's a good upgrade for not a lot of money. If you stick to halogen upgrades stay away from any light bulb that has a coating on it because it blocks light output.

I went with a completely new housing and wiring harness that was activated by the original headlight wiring. Mine are from rallylights dot com. I purchased the "SM6024J Headlamp Kit for Jeep Wrangler 2007->. Replaces H13 lamp with Hella E-Code H4 Headlamps" for about $250 and am VERY happy with them. MUCH brighter than stock.

Which ever you choose, you will be happy to get rid of the stock ones.

Good Luck -
