radio/subs
hi everyone. im matt. i drive a 2004 kj now. on saturday i will be getting my 2010 jk. i have been checking the forum here and am confused on teh radio issue.
i have a sony xplod head unit and 2 12 inch kenwood subs. my head unit is one of the small ones (dont know what to call it). will it work in the new jeep? i read about the wiring adapter you need but can anyone post a picture showing what wires go together? im terrible at wiring and blew 8 fuses and 2 relays last year with my home radio install.
thanks alot
matt

It will work in the Jeep with an adapter. I ended up taking mine and paying to have it installed as I also installed an amp and subs with new speakers all the way around. The wiring harness was part of the installing fee.

hey there are sub box companies that make a box for the 2 dr jk they fit 2 down firing subs that sound great with the top on or off, and for the head set they make kits or mounting brackets with cubeis and molding to fill the big gap you would have, its also a possibility to go threw your stock steareo to install and amp and subs, and for the wireing adapter that would be a wiring harness for your jeep so you dont have to cut your wires, all these parts should be aviliable at any car stereo store

DYNOMAT the hell out of the trunk if your going to try and fit 2 12's in the back, it vibrates the hell out of it. I have a 10 kicker L5 and it sounds awesome with the top on or off.

your biggest challenge is finding the airspace required to move the 2 12's -- you'd probably have better luck just putting 1 in, it'll sound 10 times better. What size amp are you using?
