Radio/HU Cutting Out
Hey all!
It's been a concern of mine for awhile that sometimes when I do a lot of things at once (i.e. roll up all 4 windows with the air or heat on, or simply accelerate really quickly) there is a popping/thump noise in the cabin and the factory head unit cuts out completely. That is, it goes dark, all music stops, and after a few seconds it resumes right where it left off. I've just tolerated it for a long time, but I am about to install an after market navigation head unit, and I was wondering if I should be concerned about the same thing happening to this one. This may be a little more serious if it cuts out while in navigation mode, not to mention it will take around 35 seconds to start up and load.
Is this a safety cut-out thing? to keep me from burning out a fuse or something? has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have an idea what's causing this? Do I need to get it checked out before installing my new head unit?
Thanks in advance!
