Prototype projector headlight
The hella e-codes just weren't cutting it, so I decided to hack up a the factory headlights and drop in projectors. Not being happy with the end result, I put this together.
Edit: Two more pics of the rear so you can see how it's mounted. That's a 4" aluminum ducting pipe cut to about 1" attached with a simple epoxy to provide a mounting point for the aluminum tape to seal in the projector unit. The tape was cut off for this picture, so some of it still remains.

It takes a D1S bulb..
Still on the fence about putting a lens cover on (such as the factory ones) or leaving it exposed. When I finish the other one, I'll put em on the jeep and judge.

If you can make it weather tight and rust proof, then it should work find. D1S is a bixenon type of bulb or what?
Pictures!!! If its black and good enough, I might just buy a set from you!
I would suggest some kind of lens to prevent rocks and stuff from chipping the projector dome.

I have a couple ideas for protecting the glass lens, including a standard headlight cover much like the factory.
The main goal in this is to create a functional, aesthetically pleasing and affordable projector headlight for our Jeeps since the ones sold by the usual suspects are ridiculously costly and ugly.
The D1S bulb is fairly standard in most factory HID installations, the projector units themselves provide the bi-xenon functionality (aka high beam).

Absolutely, my goal is to have it plug and play. It's basically going to be very similar to the wiring harness used by the susquehana/northridge/stern/etc kits, but with HID ballasts.

Yeah. It's similar to what I am using now. I am using a susquehanna harness with a bixenon harness. Working flawlessly with no buzzing or flickering.
The Bi-Xenon capability would have to have some mechanism inside the lens. Have you implemented this or what?
