I am still new, don't have my JK yet.

On most of the X models, they don't have the outside temperature and the compass display. How hard is it to make that work? I would think that everything is there with the exception of a fuse and maybe a bulb.

Any ideas, I really like that option.

 

Since you still have time to search, you may want to try and find one with it already. My X has it - love it, btw. Just tell your dealer EXACTLY what you want when you're ready. They'll find what you are looking for if they know you are serious about the purchase.

 

i have it too. its part of the "S" package.

dont know how to go about getting the temp/comp by itself.

 

I am still a few months away to being able to do this and I will not buy new of the new car lot. I will probably go through carmax or something similar. Worked with my particular one before and had a good experience. Sometimes I see the X's with them others I don't. Seems like a stupid option not to have on there, with the whole outdoor go anywhere thing. I have had one in my 99 WJ, I don't know if I could not have one anymore.

 

X2 - I have the S package on an X and have it as well...

There are two displays on models with this option in the dash gauge cluster. You can tell it if the left side is "shiny" under the speedo. If it's matte gray plastic, you do not have this option.

On the left displays the Compass & Temp, Fuel Econony, Run Time and Distance to Empty.

Every model JK can show the exterior temp on the right side ... switching between trip A, trip b, odo and outside temp.

If you just have a basic JK model you can only get exterior temp, not compass.

So, if this is a feature you want, make sure you get the "S" package as others have mentioned - power group is included.

 

The temp/direction are part of the trip computer, so you'll also get MPG reading, driving time, estimated miles left, etc. Also, in '07 the only way to get the cruise control (from the mfr) was to buy the S pkg. If that's still so, then you'll probably have the temp/direction if you opt for cruise control. You have to skulk pretty deeply into the Jeep website, but there's a very detailed spec sheet/matrix that will show exactly what will be in a vehicle with each and every option.
