opinions on windshield hinge light mounts
Looking for a set of mounts to mount some lights to the windshield hinges. Heard the KC mounts put the lights somewhat inside your view from inside. Looking for pictures and opinions to look at

Ya basically two different types of mounts from different manufacturers.
KC type ( high and close together )
Pros: Slightly better illumination and slightly less hood glare.
Cons: Slightly less field of view for the driver.
Smittybuilt type ( low and further apart )
Pros: Slightly better field of view for the driver
Cons: Slightly less illumination and slightly more hood glare.
Personal preference, Smittybuilt.

Definitely get the down-and-out position brackets like Smittybilt and Mopar (they're identical except for price). KC, Rugged Ridge and a number of other brackets are up-and-in position.
Over the years I've had 3 different pairs of lights on the windshield, my Mopar brackets position the light housing outside the driver seat view.
Any hood glare is solely due to a poor choice of lights -- only get long-range pencil-beam for windshield mounted lights.

The amount of hood glare is a direct result of the choice of lighting. And its affect is subjective to the owner. but, it's physically impossible to mount any type of traditional fixture in this location without having some degree of glare.
