As stated above. Use a 12v relay. Tie the coil of the relay to your headlight circuit where you have your controller wired now. Then put a constant 12v from the battery on one side of the relay contact and your controller on the other. This way when you turn on the high beams you actuate the relay and put the constant 12v on your controller. Let us know how it comes out, very creative solution.

. Yes, the opener will get constant voltage with the high beams on. I really doubt that is going to cause you any problems though. You would be getting into a specialized logic circuit for it to work otherwise. A momentary relay is what most relays are, they stay engaged as long as power is applied. I would just run what you have.
