Off Road Lights
So i'm looking to get some lights mounted on my windshield. there are a lot of good threads on this, but i have a specific question. i am trying to decide between the 6 inch hella 500s and the KC slimlights 6 in. any preference? the KC seems like it's higher powered at 100W and the hellas has 50. the hellas are cheaper though and i've heard really good things about them. what does everyone think?

I've had no problems from my Hella 500's, and they have em at wal-mart for about $55 I think now...I've never had KC's, but I'm sure they are superior in quality.
Got mine at Advance Auto Parts for $65, and the grills from rallylights.com for $25....so $90 in all, about $60 less than a pair of KC's.

What is the point of buying a weak light? Look at the KC #661 HID 6" 640,000 candle power.
They are $$ but shop around online and you can buy them cheaper than from KC. Quadra tech has em for $700. I would not waste my $ on crap lights!

I don't think so....there are SO many other things I could spend $700 on IMO.

I went with PIAA's 520 series. I used them on a night run up at Tellico this August. They did well. They were about 250$. Well worth the purchse. If you have been in the mountains or any place far from civilization, there is nothing more comforting that a light that won't fail. Just my 2 cents based on experience.

Might as well tape 700 dollars to your front bumper...
I'm interested in the PIAA 520 ATP lamps. They supposedly have a beam pattern that is optimized for off-roading at night.
So... Anyone want to order a set and tell me if they're any good?

I have decided to get even more $$ lights! The KC 8" HID's worth over $1000. I have a kick ass alarm on my jeep and the insurance is stacked, plus I drive off road at night alot.
