Well I haven't had the time to look into it. If I remember correctly changing the module (if possible) would do the trick. You need to get the US amount of wiring in the back to hook up LED's. I have the wiring diagram with the module on it ( european and US), but don't know exactly if it's a seperate module and if you can exchange it. Maybe a trip to the dealer could tell us more.

If you're going to do the swap let me know how it turns out, or if I can help.

Dennis

Ps. I can check the wiring diagram tomorrow and see if there are part numbers mentioned.

It seems I may be a day late and a dollar short, but just in case. Here is some pics of the taillight of a 2007 JK (US).

In order to convert mine for the UK I simply tapped into the front turn signal running a wire to the rear connecting it to the disconnected reverse lamps. Once connected I replaced the bulb with a amber bulb. This will remove the reverse lights which I solved by adding a single fog light in the middle of my bumper to act as a reverse lamp. This has been working fine for the last two years or so. The turn signals flash as though a bulb is out which was annoying for the first month or so but now I don't really notice. I was told you can place a resistor in the line to prevent the fast flashing but it did not bother me that much.

I have driven across to France and have had no issues.

I can draw up a diagram if you need help.
This could do the trick. Never heard about this converter before. Is this also a ballast for the Canbus problems? Or do I need to add resistors anyway?

I would like to see a wire diagram copy, if you have one I would be appreciated it.

Thanks already

PS found it already
