Need some insight on unlocking a Mopar touch screen headunit
Hi all,
I have recently purchased a factory touch screen headunit. It powers up fine, and I have been told that I need to track down the original VIN # to give to the dealer in order to unlock it. However I'm running into a problem getting the VIN information. Is there any other way to unlock / flash / reprogram the head unit without the VIN information? Hoping I haven't been had.

I found this on a Dodge forum....might be helpful for your situation....
"I just sold my 430n RHB to another forum member. Here is what I had to do to get the security code. First I contacted my service department who promptly told me they couldn't give me that info, and I had to contact Chrysler (wrong). I spoke with a Chrysler Mopar rep (who was very helpful) who told me what I had to do. He said every dealer service manager has access to a Chrysler portal where you can use your VIN info to pull the security code for the head unit. I called the service department and again asked for the SM. After a couple rounds of phone tag I told him what the Mopar rep had relayed to me and gave him the VIN info. By the end of the day the SM had texted me the security code for my 430n. Dealers might tell you they can't give you the security code. If this happens to you I'm telling you you are not talking to the right person. Make sure when you are talking to your local dealer that you deal with the service manager. They have access to pull the security code for each of our head units."
