Default Need Help for wiring-up backup lights

Can someone tell me if you have installed fog lts. as backup lights?
I purchased these small halogen fogs 2"x2" and want
to install them on my tire carrier and wire them to the backup light.
I do not understand if I need to run a separate power
wire from the battery to make these work without the
supplied switch?
Sorry for my ignorance, I am not an electrician.

the kc lites (i know this isnt what you have, but the idea is the same) use a standard relay just like the fogs, their directions can be viewed by clicking here

I hope that helps.

Thanks Moderator, I think from both of these directions I can just tie-into the backup light and not even have the switch?

That's the way it looks to me.

although personally, i would switch them as i would like to have the control of being able to turn them on, for whatever reason, without needing to be in reverse.

that works too.
only difference i see is your triggering the relay with a two way switch where the KC diagram just powers the lights directly off of the battery. (I'd toss a fuse in there though)

Yup. I don't foresee a problem with tapping the reverse lights for low wattage reverse bulbs. The diagram shows you that you can hook them up so that you can turn them on without having to put the jeep in reverse. And, yes, fuses are good.

Thanks for all the help and input. I just bought a Bosch relay and I agree, I will use a switch too. Should I follow the diagram below?
